Today I have realised that all these fall colours that people bleat on about, like the fiery reds, oranges, purples are only visible in the sunny weather. When it is grey as it has been for 13 days so far this month, one does not see the colours.
Uh some dreadful single figure maximums coming up... and also many frosts. Ah well. Winter has to come eventually I guess. Then, a bunch of wind and rain. Yech. Everyone on netwinter.tv seems to think it's "perfect" weather. Not if they didn't have all their extra clothes to bundle up in and costly heating switched on LOL.
Nights have been unusually mild; hasn't been going much below 50°F. Sun is out for a change. Some more rain and clouds predicted, but it's improved over last month.
An awful fall if you ask me, god I hate this climate so much sometimes.
What's been wrong with it? Plenty of time for fog, frost, gales, chill and rain later on when we can't get the sunny/15C+ combination, but I've been very happy with the mild/warm weather - particularly that heatwave - while it's still been possible. Apart from much of June, July and August I've actually enjoyed the past six months of warm-ish weather.
Our low last night was 4°C with some patchy fog instead of the 2°C in the forecast... and lows are going to start to creep up at the beginning of next week so no frost in the forecast.
Our fall foliage seems to be at peak or later for some deciduous trees and non-existent for other deciduous trees..kind of bizarre actually.
So, except for about half of the last six months, you enjoyed the warm-ish weather of the last six months?
Ha, let me try again, eh - having six months of 18-22C highs most days with few, if any cold nights has been ideal, just June-August I remember as being unusually cloudy with above average wet days, whereas April, May and Sept/early Oct here have all had above average sun and fewer rain days, so in a way it's felt as much like summer as the actual summer months. I don't really mind the London climate to be honest - the few changes I'd make would be to add 2C onto April/May/September and take them off December - February and leave all the other months the same except have, say, 25% more sun between early April and early October when it's actually useful.
