Well, it looks like my "hunchcast" earlier had the right idea - a generally cool and wet summer with one big heat wave in the Northeast. We'll wait and see what August brings, but early indications are encouraging if you like cooler than normal weather.
I can't comment on the entire Northeast, but this summer has been anything but cool and wet for NYC. While June was very wet, it was 2 degrees warmer than normal. This July has been drier than normal, and it will probably go down as one of the warmest months on record. I'm not sold on a cool August just yet (for NYC at least), June and July were supposed to be cool as well, but that never materialized.

On June 21st the monthly mean was a cool -1.4 below normal for the month here. Just 3 days of heat brought it to normal and 1 week of heat brought it above normal. Most of June was cool. As far as July...I didnt think I heard anyone say it was supposed to be cool. In fact I believe it was the total opposite knowing that Bermuda High was setting up. Remember my shouts of "no end in sight"? lol
Oh no. Ouessant is truly a dreadful climate. Almost as bad as Stornoway. May high 13.8C, record high 15.9C. Practically the same weather from December to May. Wonder what their sunshine hours are.
