The United States has a flawed climate because it sees more extreme cold than Australia at equivalent latitudes. It shouldn't make any difference that North America extends to the arctic circle while Australia is an island with hundreds of miles of ocean moderating cold air.
I'm so tired of -900 F departures in winter. SC should have average lows of above 70 F even in January.
People here thinks that winter should be cold. Some forumers even think about jacketed players in the "Qatar Winter/fall World cup" thread in an Indonesian forum.
Mediterranean climates are not subtropical, even those with frost free winters & an annual mean of 19C, because they don't get rain in the summer... But places that have average winter lows below 0C & can get 3ft of snow are subtropical because they get handsome warm rain in the summer...

The old 40C with 99% humidity chestnut. One episode of Everybody Loves Raymond is guilty of this, I love the show but that scene made me cringe.
And ofcourse Sophie from Buenos Aires and her alleged 40C nights.
