Yes I've noticed that a lot of people posting their conditions like to talk as if they are bigging up what their actual climate averages and normal temperatures are. I wonder why...

Me too. And among people who have a pretty good idea about how the European climate is. I think it's all about "look how good my climate is"...

Well at the end of August the temps would be higher than the end of September.

16c is hardly frigid its 12c here with a strong breeze.
