They don't look wintery to me - winter clouds are usually uniform and featureless. That looks like an overcast summer's day.

The cloud's in Owen's photo look like the types of cloud we get in cold, NW air streams - more common in winter and spring.

Probably Northern Ireland is located in a completely different climate zone and that's why the clouds are different.

The clouds in my picture were cumulus clouds, certainly not a winter cloud type.

They are just a zoomed in version of these clouds, which don't look much like a winter day.

Are you sure that he didn't just post your photo? The terrain looks the same as the Connecticut River Valley.
