benefit of not having national health insurance system. Those with pre-existing health conditions (if they don't get health insurance from their job) get to pay extra for having health problems. Then we don't have to pay for the stupid and unhealthy!

Instead punish the healthy poor because of a minority of fat idiots.

But the EU also passed diesel regulations that killed thousands of its own citizens. You take the good with the bad.

countries can't have stricter regulations than the EU? California used to have its own regulation, they still might.

Talk about a wannabe elitist

Speaking of a sugar tax I only support it on one condition, I want to stay with the same VAT for sugar products and remove it completely for vegetables. I'd much rather see something that actually stimulates healthy eating rather than the nanny state method of forcing a tax while not rewarding healthy eating at a baseline level.

The end result is that people will still pay the extra for the sugar products while the vegetables will not be any cheaper, thus consumption of those won't increase. Stupid leftist tax-w*nkery as usual!

That's one few ideas floating around that I've liked. Some have been suggesting that we could implement a sugar tax, and then use the revenue to subsidise fruits and vegetables. I could get behind that.

Exactly. And being a healthy eating police force shouldn't be the government's job. Someone's actions that lead to health problems shouldn't affect anyone else but then. If you're a healthy person, you should not be forced to pay a tax for sugar just to discourage someone else from becoming obese.

I'm all for curbing obesity, diabetes, etc. I don't see a "sugar tax" accomplishing much, however. It sounds like a money grab.

Yeah. I don't want to pay a sugar tax just because some people can't stop eating sh*t.

In fact, new law - people over a certain weight are fed to sharks.
