I have noticed a sudden jump or fall in other stations before. One example of this is Northerly Island in Chicago. Using data from 2008-2010+2012 (2011 had missing data), Northerly Island averaged 53.2° vs. 51.7° at Midway Airport. In 2013-2016 data, Northerly Island averaged 50.3° vs. 51.8° at Midway Airport. For some unexplained reason, in the same time period Midway increased by 0.1°, Northerly Island dropped by 2.9°.

Aside for the fact that Northerly Island has a lake bias and air temperature fluctuates with water temps, the data is dubios imho. I know for a fact MDW is callibrated daily. Can't say the same for Northerly Island tho. It's an automated station.

79F in Northern Vermont, damn! Say what you want about the springs here, but the fall is a real treat in the Northeast. Can't remember the last time we had a "bad" fall
