45 in the morning here, im just trying to avoid a very early freeze. Past decade raleighs growing season has shortened while the rest of the state has lengthened. Places like Greensboro have longer growing seasons than us... bad luck with cold fronts i guess. Raleigh has a very odd growing season.... shortest in state out of mountains in terms of major cities which makes no ****ing sense... all because of ill timed cold fronts like past years.
The morning low temperature in Athens, GA on October 17 was 46°F, which makes it the first day with a morning low in the 40s since May 8. Finally, we're starting to dial down the warmth in the South. Temperatures were very warm from mid-September to mid-October, following a period of relatively mild temperatures from late August to early September, but I think it's safe to say that summer is finally over. Even though afternoon high temperatures here will gradually rebound into the upper 70s and lower 80s from Thursday through Sunday, morning low temperatures will remain in the upper 40s and lower 50s, which is normal for mid- to late October.
Looking ahead to next week, Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon will have a brief return of humid warmth, with morning lows in the 60s and afternoon highs in the 70s, before the big frontal passage that's supposed to bring the first extended chill to the eastern U.S. through the remainder of the week. Fall is finally here!
Only 0.06" of rain today when they predicted around an inch...
Local amounts will always vary.
