Last month I sent Santa Claus a protracted Christmas wishlist for October-January:
1. No 90s in October
2. No 80s in November
3. No mid- to upper 70s in December or January
4. No wildfires
5. No tornado outbreaks
In other words, be entirely unlike last October-January. Unfortunately, I'm already not getting my first wish since Athens had two days of 90°F temperatures last week (albeit neither one a record), but I'm loving how the heat has completely collapsed since, and I'm looking forward to that nice, refreshing chilly shot next week. Here's hoping it'll be seasonal on Halloween too, since the high in Athens last Halloween was 88°F, a record. That was one of seven days with record highs in Athens last October, including three with 90°F temperatures and a maximum of 92°F.
Hi Craziaskowboi,
We could be great friends, it seems
From the looks of things, y'all will be in pretty good shape through the end of October, as will we. I saw one forecast for Oct. 29 that had some seriously cold air pouring into our area of the world, just in time for Halloween. You're in Georgia, so your location is probably very similar to mine in Alabama, give or take a few degrees one direction or the other. I too, love a good chilly Halloween, and 100% agree that the last two years (not just Halloween but fall in general) were a BUMMER! Ditto for the last two Thanksgivings and Christmases.
I know that the weather we're seeing in the immediate future doesn't necessarily mean anything for November, December, January, but it's promising. I hope Mother Nature doesn't get the cold out of her system now, tease us, then throw us back in the oven for the winter. We really need a good, cold winter this year - the landscape needs a good press of the "reset" button.

Second half of 2016 was ridiculously warm, but it still doesn't top the first week of November, 2015.
If this doesn't show it, dont know what will... watch the typhoon and watch the Jet stream buckle and start waving sending a cold blast into Eastern U.S.
Very cool look in how the atmosphere and Jet stream move around the northern Hem
