Replying to my own post because it seems things have changed since I made it. She did text this morning and said it's "a little more concerning".

It's gonna be a rough boat ride. Here is what to expect.
It's gonna be bad no matter what. It's not gonna change much from the track, but a few miles east or west will make a big diff for many peeps. I expect the worst for my area as far as wind and damage and even worst just east of my area. But not a surge prob or flooding as this thing is gonna pick up speed and i don't seee local rainfall amounts being super crazy. This storm won't hang up and stall. Once it gets past our area forward speed will really pick up. 4 core hours of the worst for everyone then it moves away fast and winds come down fast. One hour will really be like the end of the world as the eye passes over rover.

First time since 1963 i had to deal with a real cane and i have lived here all my life. Weather like this lites my fire, but something this strong is scary also. I am staying home on the gulf and don't see surge as a problem. Just gonna be a long wait and then a few hours of scary winds and things crashing about. If this storm was coming at us from the west the surge would have been a nitmare, but at such a shallow track hard from the south i am not gonna worry about surge or rain. Will post as long as i have power to give a blow by blow.

Tampa is looking at a strong Cat 4 possibly Cat 5 a little south... This is bad.

I wonder if the house we rent on St Pete's Beach will still be there after Irma hits.

I am north of St pete a good 30 miles. It should make it if winds stay under 115mph. Roofers will be happy and my roof is 15 years old so i am sure i will need to deal with that.

Well folks , rookie at all this, I have no idea what to expect, have a 2017 home so walls are concrete , but roof is wood and shingles. Shutters are up and garage door support installed. I'm safely away, but do I expect this new home to be leveled ? Or is this a blow by blow fight...the location of the home is off Taylor near Walmart, so I don't see that as a flood zone. Surge, in lay men's terms, will fisherman village be gone ? That tropical bar that has all the chairs , near the bridge that I walk, will that be gone ? I have not been to the coast of PG yet so this is all I have ?
This was our dream, moving to PG, no looks like a nightmare.. God be with you all...

Not sure what city you are in. Lets pray the storm can track more to the east for my area.
