You simply cannot compare any climate in Europe to the USA..

No where in EUrope do you get San Francisco climate, New York climate, Vancouver climate and Gulf region climate.. Or California's climate..

You are kidding? Victoria has the mildest climate in Canada, and with an eight-month frost-free season flowers bloom year-round and palm trees grow here...

Umm...yes you do.

San Francisco = coastal Portugal

New York = Bucharest, Sofia

Vancouver = Bognor Regis, Brussels, Amsterdam.

California = southern Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands, Cyprus (inland CA)

The only climate we don't have in Europe is the Gulf region climate.

Palm trees aren't native to Victoria, though, with the possible exception of a few cold-hardy trees. The fact they can grow there is a testament to the place's mild winters, but I wouldn't put too much stock in non-native plant life.

Just because a place can grow Trachycarpus does not mean that it is subtropical. These trees can grow in Northern Scotland and coastal Norway... does that mean they are subtropical too?

Fair enough. That poster seems to make claims that Lytton,BC is subtropical just because it is narrowly warmer than koppen's threshold in the coldest month which is debatable in itself.

Eh, Lytton is subtropical under Koeppen but it's much more borderline than subtropical or continental.

Lytton isn't subtropical, it doesn't have 8 months with a mean of 10C, and the coldest month has a mean below 0C. It's a continental climate.
