Yes, without a doubt the sun affects my mood. I lived in Seattle for twenty years with mostly overcast skies and I found it depressing. Then I moved to Denver and then Phoenix which are both much sunnier and it does make me feel better.

Without a doubt. I am sure there is scientific proof somewhere. It is an instant mood lifter.

For me, grey is a dull colour and it tends to desaturate other colours. Conversely, nothing beats late afternoon sun for great colours!

Only two times I don't want sun:
-when I need to drive in the direction of low sun
-if I already have a sunburn

I suppose when it is "too hot" outside would be a third,
but it's never too hot for me here in Canada.

It actually affects the brain positively somehow,
and everyone needs some sun in varying degrees.

I guess I'm one of the few who prefers clouds. In the summer here, sunny skies mean even more heat. The sun literally burns like when you're standing too close to a bonfire. It's miserable. And in the winter when the air is clear, the sun is soooo bright and blinding. It's a guaranteed headache for me, especially if I'm driving. That's not to say I would want to live somewhere that never sees sunshine, but I think I'd be fine living in a place that has mostly cloudy days.

I actually tend to agree. I prefer cloudy days. Sunshine is fine every so often but after about 3 sunny days, I have had enough. I tend to get irritable with more sun and feel much better with clouds. Opposite I know. But I am also a night person and I prefer to be up at night and sleep during the day. My motto is the best sunrise is one not seen.

I live in the far north central U.S. with long and cold winters...much longer than most anywhere in the lower 48. When May comes and the first time it hits 70 and snow is gone and grass is greening up and trees budding most people are re-joicing here with windows open, etc. I go through a week or so period of almost depression like symptoms as I know my favorite season is gone and I have to get used to warm weather. I love fall when the leaves turn color and drop and things brown up, and anxiously awaiting the first snow.

And yes I know I am odd, but very true.

Dan
