Kmarc, thanks. I'm just getting around to photography here. That was a fairly clear mid day on Mt Pisgah and no storms really building. When we got back to Asheville, we had a deluge. Those images remind me of the jungles of Panama, where I spent a couple of years in the US Army.

Not surprising, I think parts of WNC are considered temperate rainforest, especially the Brevard area. But it's interesting you had an impression similar to mine. Hmm, wonder if anyone has ever tried growing coffee in WNC.

Default Couple Three Recent Pics...

We have a flying squirrel or two, that swoop in from the tall oaks and nibble on whatever birdseed is left, from the day. This one is pretty tame, though it jumps around like it has Tourette's, lol!

A sunset from Sat eve, on the daily and ubiquitous storm clouds. We have had 7+ inches more of rain, since last Monday night. Can't dry out areas of our house...moldy and fugly.

A very wide angle artsy shot, 14th tee at Laurel Ridge CC.

I was out driving the other day and thinking that with all the rain this year, some areas are looking almost like a jungle.

Default Rain rain go away

Western NC has had three (3) years worth of rain in one summer; according to the weather services and news reports. (Think of a FL gully washer that lasts 3 hours or longer.) OMG

Totally abnormal. Weather all over the country has been severe.

You will have a home inspection done, yes, we know you will Donna.

PL,
No, not in house. But we do have some below grade areas that have suffered the continual water runoff, on perimeter of house.
Couple of rain free days, dehumdifiers going...getting better.

We made it to the top of Big Bald last weekend and snapped some photos. There's a lower clearing called "Big Stamp" that we came across first:

That mowed strip is the AT running along the NC/TN border leading to Big Bald to the left.

There's a really nice assortment of wild flowers along the trail (looking toward the Black Mountains):

Now a view from Big Bald (that's big stamp on the left):

With the highest elevation on the AT between Clingman's Dome and Roan Mountain, the 360-degree views are astounding:

I think this one is my favorite. Even in person, it's hard to tell where the mountains stop and the sky begins:

Thanks,
Opt-Out
