I hear alot from transplants about the high taxes. They feel overtaxed. I also hear many complaints about the Wi attitude, the weather, the low speed limits, the 'hick' mentality, the lack of fancy shopping, and obsession with the packers...many complain about being an outsider forever Anyone wish they stayed home

This has been discussed before, but I'll admit it again. We made a huge mistake moving to WI and we will be going home next year.

I made a huge mistake moving away from Wisconsin. Well, I actually got to learn why I liked it there so much and I'm so glad I moved away to appreciate what I had there. Cant wait to come back and raise my family there. Where we live now is no place to raise a family...thats for sure and Im glad my husband agrees even being from the area. He's not crazy about moving to WI but he has a brother already up there who said he will never move away from there. And he also said he wants whats best for our family, and that is not sending our kids to the schools around here.

My husband and I just moved here to Madison two months ago from Kansas. We're still getting used to it, but so far we love it here (well except for how expensive houses are). The first thing we noticed about Wisconsin is how friendly everyone is! I haven't met one rude person yet. There was the incedint with a lady getting mugged at gun point behind our townhome....lol. I'd tell anyone that is thinking of moving here to raise a family that it would be a good idea. Everyone seems to have that small town thing going on with waving to everyone and saying hello.

We also love it here. Moved from Chicago, 20 years ago to raise our kids and it was the best move we could have made. Love the people, the scenery, no congetion, no complaints.

I'm quite happy been here a little over two months and don't think I'll move back to Northeast Illinois. I miss some friends, but some have come to visit and I can go see them, too.

I appreciate the peace and quiet, love being in a small town, don't have to worry if I put my garbage can out when its dark, I feel safe. I certainly did not feel safe being near Waukegan. I don't have a problem paying taxes when I feel I'm getting something in return. Illinois did not seem to have much to offer me anymore.

So sorry this transplant will be staying!

We are finally making our move here. We were lucky in that we had a 2nd home here for a number of years. We got to know our neighbors and we know the community is a great fit for us. Our older daughter is going to finish her last semester of high school here and she is so excited. They all love it and because we have been coming here they have friends that they met through church and other activities before our move became permanent.

It's a nice thought - as long as you don't really think too much about it. Stop and think for a moment about what makes some people happy, though, and it's no longer so simple....
