Why can't people eat somewhere else?
Sometimes getting out of the office for a bit isn't an option...

I eat in my desk not because I don't want to socialize but because I choose to have 30-minute lunch break only so I can go home earlier, so I need to eat my lunch in 30 minutes.
don't want also to be seen eating salad every time or burgers

Everyone else near me is either in the café, or out to lunch....so nobody is even here to care

Don't these people have a cafeteria or room where people can go for a lunch break or breaks? If you only get 30 min for a lunch break....it would make sense to eat at your desk BUT if you have an hour lunch break then you need to go somewhere else to eat.It gives the person a break away from the work place to relax at least a little bit.

Exactly. I'm the only managerial person on the "off" shift so I'm stuck at the shop unless the day shift managers are still there (too early for my lunch) or the night shift lead comes in (way too late for lunch).

So yeah, I am going to eat at my desk because even though management gets an hour for lunch, just where the hell am I going to go? You can't get an uninterrupted hour on the off-shifts for lunch--not complaining, just facts.

As long as people are keeping the areas where they eat clean, then I don't have an issue with them doing it. I prefer that they take their lunch.

I'd take mine if I had someone to watch the shop, lol.

Here you either eat at your desk or eat out. I'm not eating out everyday, so I pack and eat at my desk.
When it's nice I will sit in my car or go to the park as I do enjoy leaving the office.

But yeah, everybody here at least snacks at their desk.

I agree.

My line of work is notorious for 'desk eating'

My office doesn't have a lunch room so we have to eat at our desks. If you microwave food, it's going to have a smell. There is no way around it. Some people are just being petty AF.

Try some air freshener.
Those fishy smells are disgusting.
