Amazon flex is a delivery operation where drivers use their own cars and phones to deliver packages.

They also have arranged the rules such that the drivers feel compelled to break traffic laws:

Many of the workers don't track costs, so have no idea what they really make.

That's great for Jeff Bezos and Amazon stockholders, but not so great for these workers who are essentially being gulled. Also not so great for anyone who gets T-boned by a Flex driver running a red light.
Does amazon actually pay them 18/hr as advertised? If someone is an independent contractor, it's not the employer business what the participant's costs are.
And what is the difference between this and Pizza Delivery drivers? Running lights, speeding, maybe we should add going up one way streets the wrong way ('It was only a couple hundred feet') All to make a corporate promised delivery time.
If someone doesn't like the job, they won't take it.

I believe they pay them by the package. In other words, the $18 is just an estimated amount.
