Hi,
We hope to move to the Fort Mill area soon. I know alot of areas are having excessive heat right now (PA did this past wk in the 90s) I was just wondering if this is normal for the area this time of year or a fluke? I expect it to be a bit warmer than PA, but not 105! Thanks for your input.

It was about this hot last July - I know when we moved in mid-July last year it was hovering near 100 on the afternoon we moved our stuff into storage.

I don't think 105 is the "norm" though - it's most likely upper-90s as the "normal" ultimate high temp.

104 yesterday at the Charlotte airport (not very far from Fort Mill) tied an ALL TIME record (not just for the day). usually we have one or two days around 100 each summer, but nothing like this.

Yes to what groove said. It is not unusual for it to reach 100 or a little higher but it is unusual for it to last for this long. We did have an unusually nice (cooler) July though and if you look at the stats, July is usually the warmest month. I think our summer is just backwards a little this year. June was hotter than July!

Welcome to weird carolina weather, just wait for the winter when it will be 75 one day and 35 the next (high) and that is not unusual at all!! Tomorrow, sat, it is supposed to be at least 5-10 degrees cooler which pits the highs between 90-95 which, if the humidity doesn't go up, will feel better.

In December you can scrape morning ice off of your card and wear shorts in the afternoon sometimes.

Holy Crap...you bet it was a fluke! On top of that our power went out for a couple of hours during the hottest part of the day...let's just say...I turned ugly real quick (saving grace though...got me out of cooking for the night and into an a/c restaurant)

Thanks everyone for your input. My family has been looking for the best of both worlds (change of seasons but not so cold as up north) for sometime now. We are really looking forward to moving to Fort Mill - the 105 temperatures just scared me a bit. Thanks all!

Just a thought, even it is a fluke but it is probably something to expect in the summers to come. It probably will become our new normal.

yeah and I could probably loose 40 or 50 pounds by next summer too...but who really knows what the odds of either one of those things happening? I choose to say it's a fluke.
