Description: Another Beach access little troubled by tourist crowds is Ocean View Beach Park on the Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk. It’s located on the former site of the Ocean View Amusement Park, which was the star of the 1977 movie Rollercoaster. The park closed in 1978, and the historic wooden rollercoaster was destroyed as part of the 1979 ABC Movie of the Week The Death of Ocean View Park. Not only can you swim in the warm, gentle bay waters, but there’s a large band shell for Sunday night big band shows. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial to Labor days. There are picnic shelters, concession stands, free parking, and even a fishing pier with bait shop and tackle rentals.
