I have been reworking a poem I wrote and posted some years ago.

Why do we call it "Fall"?
Perhaps because of children falling,
into piles of scarlet and gold or
Summer herself, falling like ancient Rome.

Mother called the bruised apples
Beneath the trees, "drops".
She hurried to use them before they spoiled.
