just as in city vs city, people could debate the "best" lifestyle to their heart's content
They could debate hipsters, yuppies, living large, urban vs suburban vs rural, single vs "family oriented" small family vs "natalist", etc, etc so that the geographic forums don't get diverted quite so much. Would also help some of the nongeo forums.
Many geo forums end up with debates on these things that lack local content. A place to move them to might help.
A forum devoted to "The way I like to live is better than the way you like to live"? Or essentially, "The kind of person I am is better than the kind of person you are"? Sounds like a cesspool of a subforum.

Maybe so. But meanwhile we've got lots of threads like that cluttering local forums, distorting the urban planning forum (and maybe the parenting forum?) etc. Bringing them together would improve those forums and might actually improve the discussions of those topics, by bringing together people with more knowledge of whatever real issues there are than would be found in any one forum.
