My family is going to Hoonah in September and hope to meet the whole family.
I grew up in Hoonah and still have friends there. They've interacted with the Browns. They say the family is nice enough, but everything about the show is complete crap.

With all due respect, when a family puts itself out there and promotes themselves with a 'reality television show' based upon their lives, then THEY are the ones who INVITE criticism. They brought the cameras into their lives and made MANY false statements. They basically lied to everyone without apology. They DESERVE the criticism. It is not being judgmental. People do not like being played for fools. So, if you want to believe the fairy tale they are calling reality then go ahead. I choose not to. I personally think people WANT to believe there is a family like this and are willing to stick their heads in the sand whenever contrary information comes up. And there is PLENTY of factual evidence of their being frauds.

I don't know any of them personally but have watched all the episodes so far and it's pretty good. Not any hype or drama.

I like the show also. The family could be a real bush family but, anytime discovery channel gets involved they will always create some sort of scripted scenarios. As with other shows.

I don't blame the Browns if they are living in Hoonah. If discovery channel got them an apartment until all is constructed at the cabin, you can't blame them for staying there. The Brown family will go along with what discovery channel wants for them.

Other issues as to why this show is fake....I have no statement.

^ I have a feeling that every fifth episode or so they're going to have to Brown boys looking for girls. It's seems to be a pattern.

They're not a bush family. They currently live in Hoonah, the didn't build the cabin-a local builder did, if you watch close you can see the cabin has electric, anyone who knows anything about guns knows you can't shoot a hole through a floor and roof, you don't get paid enough upfront for a woodstove for hanging a few boards, and I could go on and on. Oh and 2 of the boys got into a fight with some locals on a pier resulting in a swim and Ami pulling a gun! It's actually funny to watch. I can post pictures of them on planes and taking selfies with cellphones if you need more proof.
