Speaking of the "real world", I live in it. How much education you may have means nothing to me, nothing at all. Experience is what counts, and in my experience, the health care system in the US is broken, and has been for a long long time. It needs to be fixed. Is there a perfect solution? Most likely not. But, just about anything is better then what we have now.

Oh, and now it's time for me to head to work, in the Real World.

I've had enough of Floyd's garbage rhetoric. I'm not joking when I say that my wife has a FAR bigger handle on what's happening than any freaking lawyer. Not to mention far more knowledge. JD's are dime-a-dozen. PharmD's are not. Science is far more difficult than rote memorization.

Floyd's idiocy and that of Captain Crunch are primary reasons why I've given up posting here, for the most part. How can one deal with two sarcastic, clueless SOB's like them? Don't need it, at all. You can't argue with fools, it's useless.

Your words and inability to discuss anything without name calling make your own point.

Congress explicitly requested your wife's testimony on health care how many times? Ever wonder why that is?

I'm sure your wife is a fine pharmacist and I'm sure that Walmart pays her what she is worth. Every time I require information on drugs you can rest assured that I very much appreciate the fine education that a pharmacist has.

But when I want to understand the laws that Congress passes, I talk to a lawyer. If I want to know about legislation on national health care I do have access to a lawyer with an extensive background, and a national reputation, in exactly that field. Rest assured that I would never ask an attorney to explain pharmacology, so I'm not sure why you recommend talking to a pharmacist about law.

I noticed that you have posted at least 4 messages within half an hour, 3 (or more?) of which so far have apparently been deleted by the moderators for violations of forum rules. It appears you've been somewhat overwhelmed by the "clueless SOB's".

So did some sort of late night tear take place in this thread while normal people were sleeping?

To be educated is, in general, a good thing. Knowledge of complex issues does not come by easy. A good deal of study and reflection precedes it.

Look at the article I linked to by Professor Krugman - he tells us that the smartest cookies at the most prestigious American universities failed to anticipate and understand the current crisis. All their fancy mathematical footwork lead them astray. So, yes, formal education is not the be-all and end-all. As Einstein used to say, it is important to also graduate from the school of hard knocks.
