My family and I stayed in Harrisburg for a long weekend. We went over to Lake George Sunday afternoon to take a boat ride and putz around a little bit. I didn't realize the place attracted so many foreigners. I expected to have a quiet and enjoyable boat ride but it was anything but that. Despite the crew having to tell several families to control their small children (running all over the place), they were ignored. Why would you want to bring a small child on a long boat ride anyway?
Lake George is a tourist attraction, so therefore you will get a variety of nationalities. Their economy depends on tourism to survive.
When people are traveling with their family in order to enjoy their trip they have to take their children wherever they go. You will find undisciplined children everywhere, grocery shopping, restaurants, malls, etc. Ideally they should learn to behave by going various places and being disciplined. Unfortunately that is not always true.
Lake George is a massive tourist trap. Always has been. It was a holiday weekend and that makes the place even crazier. Best time to visit LG? During the week in early September...no tourists! And things are still open.
