Most people coming from German stock in Latin America arrived before WWII.
My husband's family arrived before WWII. They were very hardworking farmers, woke up at 4:30am and worked until the sun went down. His grandmother was still pretty German in practices and habits and still spoke German. My husband acts more German than Brazilian for many things, he is not an easygoing guy. Lol

They are not racist, on the contrary, they taught their children to blend in and mix with other races.

I do wonder why Panama abstained from voting in favor of combating Nazism when all the other Latin American countries voted to combat Nazism.

Its also troubling that the USA and Canada voted against combating Nazism. Plus, practically all of Europe abstained.
It's because it had nothing to do with Nazism. It was Putin trying to claim that Ukraine were fascists.

Practically the entire developed world voted against the resolution, or abstained, because they knew it was propaganda garbage.

Hitler was very popular in all the Americas as he was seen as a man that came from nthing and protected the poor, so there were many nazi parties all around until war broke out.

Remember, Hollywood loved Hitler, look waht Americans did to Chaplin for His Great Dictator.

I have always thought that national socialism is an odd bird.
First, it's nationalist, which you would associate with the right wing.
Socialism one usually associates with the left wing.
National socialism is both left and right? Obviously, it is extreme right, yet it calls itself socialist?? what gives?
People like to use the word Nazi without knowing what it actually means.

This. The vote was not about nazism.

Most part of Brazilians of German origin are from Germans that started arrive here since 1824.
260.000 Germans immigrated to Brazil in 18th century and in their epoch there wasn’t Germany either Nazism.

A police helicopter spotted this in a German Brazilian city not long ago:
Giant swastika found in Brazil swimming pool - Telegraph

There are not many however. The US alone has many more Nazi sympathizers than the whole of Latin America IMO.

When I was teaching in Brazil at an international school the Brazilians said that they respected the Germans in Brazil because they produce high quality products such as optics and automobiles.

Yes that is true for Japanese the same and a little for Italians.
Just in WWI epoch more than 70 mil Germans arrived in Brazil, together Italians and Japanese people from already industrialized countries arriving in a rural country so because their previous knowledge they had the opportunity of create many factories without competition so they get good reputation in Brazil of hard workers and of produce product with quality this kind of think.
Different of the USA that already was industrialized.
