But then again, Bullhead also has the Riviera district which is just as sketchy as anything Kingman has. Even Havasu has some sketchy areas once you get off the beaten path a bit.

Tho I doubt Riviera is really any worse than parts of Kingman city. It; Riviera, is def weird like 1 block is nice and the next block is real bad.

Default If your choosing BHC.

If your choosing BHC, the best neighborhood in my opinion is Arroyo Vista. I know from experience, we lived there for 8 years. Very nice pool, and park. Like most of the Cali-Nev-Ari area it was hit hard during the depression, so there will be a fair bit of foreclosures, but not nearly as much as say Vegas or Laughlin town house neighborhoods, where there are streets of foreclosures. Arroyo Vista, due to the foreclosures, comes cheap. The neighbors are (typically) nice. It is Bullhead though so, it will get up to 115 - 120. Don't expect to be doing any walking home here, during the summers.

Late 2016 update:
Foreclosures have pretty much stopped in the valley. The Arroyo Vista, Laughlin Ranch and other upscale parts of town in particular have few homes for sale and prices are recovering. In my subdivision of 150 homes, for example there is one property for sale. There are several new home tracts in the Fox Creek area under construction. Several future tracts are in various planning stages. Things are not booming, but there is activity that wasn't there two years ago.

Business and traffic is recovering, this Thanksgiving weekend reminded me almost of 1999 level of traffic.

The Riviera / west of the highway areas seem to be experiencing a crime spike. Something like 68 burglaries in BHC and Kingman last winter were attributed to ONE guy. He's in jail facing about 100 years - so he will be out probably by late next summer...

Maybe it is just better reporting, but it seems like there is a resurgence of LA gang infiltration, or possibly drug related. I've recently seen several young men in what I'd call "full gang uniform" and we've had a couple of gang graffiti incidents. We will not let gangs get a foothold here again.

I had a chance to buy a condo on Mccormick in late 2013 for 33,500...was winning bidder on hebzu...I flew out, looked at it, and negged it based on the financial statements of the HOA...got my 1000 back...but i really negged it because there was a large dog chained up in front of one of the units barking sooo loud. These originally were 130K+...I'll find the precise address if you must know. Also, the construction was pretty poor, but not the worst. I had lived there in 1999 and 2000 and worked as a Substitute Teacher...a somewhat inconsistent, segmented population. And while you have to treat people equally in a job like that; there was clearly a segment that was unreachable. But, I think I had seen they heyday of BHC in 2000, and the economy just contracted so much after the crash. I recall in 2000, LV was taking off so much that a condo under 60K was a rarity. I bought in Summerlin for 35K in 2009. I turned 50 shortly after, and obtained a long stay visa in Thailand, bought a condo for 20K, and things are pretty damn good. I miss teaching school, I like being able to afford the dentist and doctors and health insurance...and I like living near a top university. I do miss the desert, the good sports/horse betting in Laughlin, just too many trashy people....and that goes for most of that region. Seems like being on public assistance is the most popular lifestyle.

We are considering moving to any of the 3 places also. The exception would be that we would need medical specialists such as oncology and hematology. Would also like to know which area has a good medical system? And we are poor and do not drink or use drugs. Is there a decent area for us to look in for a place to live?

I know for Kingman you will get sent to Las Vegas for a lot of specialty care, level 1 trauma, etc. KRMC is not that great of a hospital and have heard horror stories. I can't speak much on the health care in BHC/LHC.

Personally overall I would pick LHC to live, it's got much more going for it then BHC or Kingman.

Bullhead: cheap, some shopping, some places look "tropical" like as in lots of trees, close to Vegas and has some real nice areas, the river, NO winters

Havasu: more money, a bit better shopping, the lake, nicer looking but no trees, closer to Phoenix than Bullhead and NO winters.

Kingman: parts are decent, housing about the same price as Bullhead or Havasu, it seems most of the bad parts of that "city" are actually "county" like Birdland, cooler summers, close to Vegas, downtown Kingman's being fixed up and it seems to have a "Hipster" scene with indie breweries and so on.
