I will Update on Globe,AZ

Everything I said in 2013 is true but now 2015 is worst. As it is obvious we could not move yet because of the job situation so we put up with this town which is getting worst. The only restaurant left is the Apache Steak House , which is not opened all the time and the Chinese , I mean with good food. . When I say good I say safe.
Safeway the big supermarket closed so you are left with Fry's now packed up with people due to this issue, very uncomfortable to shop there now. They put Starbucks inside Fry's so imagine. The amount of people running around in that place. One supermarket for the whole town. The little Safeway left on one side of town has outrageous prices.
So I guess people left the town, restaurant and big supermarket closed so people moved away to the valley and we realized that because of the amount of houses for sale and now more for rent, not much lets say two or three .So we have one supermarket left, the weather horrible , rained all summer , since May, and I keep close record on this to be able to clean the carpets, I need a hot , dry day, it is more humid than ever and of course, for example we have no water .Water was cut five hours ago. This is not unusual in this town, today is the water, normally is power and cable and TV. I learned to live with candles and lanterns I bought , is third world living. You are always informed something like, there was an accident or somebody hit something. It is a normal response instead of telling people that pay taxes , well we do not do much to upgrade things in this little town.
No veterinary or Drs they do not accept new patients still after five years we have lived here we still have to drive three hours, back and forth for Drs, Vets you name it. And now Costco is an obligation , used to be useful and nice , now is an obligation because we are left with one place, that has not everything.
Oh I forgot there is a big Walmart, well I do not buy produce there that is why I did not count it, it has and has always had bad meat etc. and really bad prices.
So the town is going down instead of up, of the only good thing new they are upgrading the streets only the main ones of course. All I know our little dog got sick because of the dust here and had an awful infection, and we do not know he will survive, the vet told us the infection is caused by a fever common in these dusty areas in AZ.
So I thought an update could be welcomed, in case anyone is thinking in relocating here, just think about it.

Wow.

Didn't Globe have 2 Safeways? 1 by Walmart and a small 1 near the tran station?

Sorry to hear it is dying. Too many small AZ towns are in trouble and I can't figure out why.

We made a tour of AZ last winter, a lot of depressed, weed filled, run down communities.

I just finished a tour of Colorado. Most towns are immaculate or at least not decrepit. Good food, beautiful scenery, rivers, trees, yes, trees, and water!

AZ needs to get it figured out.

I suppose people do not care much, many are just people that come for the summer with boats, and the rest do not care,I guess.

Globe has more or less the same weather that apache junction, only 10 degrees less sometimes, and it is extremely humid, lots of rain and storms in the summer with the usual outages in certain services. It does not happen all the time but a lot when is so hot as it is in Arizona

Globe summers are def nicer than AJ's IMHO, it's the winters that can be cold. Very similar weather to Kingman but you people get more rain.

Why would someone come and stay in Globe "for the summer with boats"? I know that Roosevelt lake is nearby but there are plenty of places right by the lake to stay "for the summer with boats".

Not trying to discount your knowledge of Globe, just questioning to totality or its veracity. Granted I do know that rentals are hard to come by in Globe, the only 'neighborhood' per se is up the hill from old downtown; I have stayed there and as you said, many of the 'refurbishing' there would be difficult at best; it seems as though the person who was a plumber in Globe when water was first piped into homes had the hot and cold sides mixed up, etc.
