Meidical facilities in Taiwan are as advanced as South Korea and Japan. But the life expectancy in Taiwan is slightly lower than Japan, Singapore, Canada, Switzerland and the UK. It is about the same as Cuba's life expectancy, but surely higher than the US. Do not know the reason but probably the taiwanese government has always been less rich than many other developed countries.

You will get treated in Taiwan right away in an emergency even if you are broke. For long-term illness, it is not significantly better than other developed countries in waiting time.

Do the hospitals(including small clinics) there have state-of-the-art facilities?

Taiwanese have a much higher work ethic than the Southern Europeans. They should not deserve a bad economy. It is the taiwanese government's policies and the the competition between Taiwan and China and South Korea that cause the economic problems. The Taiwanese government should try to avoid becoming the same as Japan in economic performance.

Unlike the Europeans, Taiwanese have no right to work in other countries. China is open to Taiwanese, China allows Taiwanese to move there without losing their Taiwanese identity. Lots of Taiwanese have moved to China already.

Taiwanese move to other countries to work like how Italians and Spaniards move to Germany or Britain, but like Italy and Spain we also receive tons of foreign workers(Poles and other parts of EE/SE Asians) to do the low-end jobs(and treat them like crap).

According to Italians and Spaniards living in Taiwan, they say they even have it worse. The salaries are almost as bad(due to the sky high taxes) but in Italy and Spain, you pay European prices, while here, most things are about half or a third as expensive.

No differences among Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese in this regard.

All of them can work in other countries as long as they get work permission and visa.

How strong is job security in Taiwan compared to those in U.S., Canada, and Australia? I am only referring to foreign educated professionals, at least with a university degree.

Why are you so interested in working in Taiwan? The working environment is just really bad here, you should just stick to the US.

I had quite different experiences with the author.

One of the companies I worked in Taiwan was composed of people from Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Macau, Taiwan and USA. It seemed all of them were enjoying everything in Taiwan, including work

What is your field of work? And did the foreigners around you(and including yourself) had to be able to speak Mandarin Chinese fluently?

Then, why on earth are you still in Taiwan? If you hate working there so much, why not just move out of there?
