I didn't say that there weren't early battle's/wars. There were bad pilgrims, and bad indians... go figure.... some things never change.
The major wars that ended in Indians being Reserved... was much later.
But that simply isn't accurate. The Pequot reservation was created by the Connecticut Colony in 1666 in the aftermath of the Pequot War.
Now, the majority of reservations were established later by the US Government starting in 1787, but to say that they did not exist prior to the establishment of the United States is not accurate.
These matters are near to me as I am an Indian (enrolled member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma).
and fullback, if we knew of all the athrocities done to your people, we'd maybe learn from it and I know we can't hold todays people responsible for what ancesters did but it's disgusting to think of what they did and in the name of some deity, acting like the deity fearing folk...
same with the Maori and Aborigines and so many who were already there, long before white people ever knew they existed.
Thanksgiving is so overrated and so commercialized, just like other holidays..they should teach real history in schools instead of making fairytales...otherwise it keeps being repeated. quit gloryfying crimes against humanity. poor deity fearing pilgrims, my a.s
We had a situation where we had two Thanksgivings in our home with two sets of people. The first had 11 people which consisted of three catholics, one deist, one christian and the rest nonreligious. The catholics did a silent prayer the rest of us just kept going about the preparations to chow down. The next day we had eight from our extended family of which only one was a deist. We had no prayer, and discussions were less controlled which was related to our lack of religious restrictions.

And you know, that's what I'm all about. I don't want to see Thanksgiving go away or any of that. I love Turkey and Football and getting the family all together. I'm also not a big fan of the "white guilt" thing. I just want to make sure that the truth is told because it is important to know what really happened.
good. Pride is a low vibration, and hurting others is bad.
When has knowing our History helped? How does one quantify such a thing?
The earth is getting worse not better... and we have a lot of History being taught and recorded.
Just for the record, I'm Tsalagi and in the 1830s my people were forcibly removed from their land, the crime was known as the Trail of Tears, my great grandmother and her family were on the Trail and members of my family were lost due to starvation, freezing weather and a lack of proper equipment and food for them to survive. Those that died along that Trail were never given a proper burial to this day. As recent as the 1960s a Native American could not be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, however, my grandfather managed to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, they didn't know he was Native American and was a hero of World War I. It is these kinds of incidents that make us distrusts the white man and his religions. A wise man once told me, History is written by the winners and it's always one-sided.

Well that's quite the racist statement.
Personally i've never done harm to any Indians.
Being a Native American myself, i find all this history rehashing to be unproductive.
