Houston is bigger and does feel larger than Atlanta, but bigger doesn't necessarily mean better in a lot of cases. Atlanta does have things about it that remind me of Houston, Dallas and Austin so I don't think they are really too different.

I hate Texas. It is butt ugly, hot as hell and I would never ever live there.

It's suspect because it only deals with financial connectivity to each city and mostly to Europe. We broke this down on the general forum plenty if times and especially on other various similar forums as this.

Texas has many beautiful areas and places. I have had the benefit of a good tour guide - my wife - who is from the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. I do agree with you on one point: it is hot!!!

I was there in basic training in San Antonio. Although I did not see the whole state, it did not appeal to me. Especially in August.

And upon this you base your entire opinion of what is one of the largest states in the country? Never mind that, it's at least the size of most countries. Please.
I do understand the frustration of Texans on this forum at times.

I can understand your sentiment if all of your experience in Texas was at Lackland. Funny thing is that 20 miles to the North and west, it starts to look different as the Hill Country begins. I did basic there as well. Not very pretty and yes, it was hot as my basic was in August when I went.

I love the Texas Hill Country.

I would also highly recommend a visit to Big Bend national park, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

If you like challenging hiking, test yourself in the Palo Douro canyon. Just be careful not to step on a big old Texas rattler or stir up the bobcats.

One thing about my 10 years in North Texas, Georgia has never looked more beautiful in all my life!

That said, once I got over my pouting about being here, there are nice areas for sure. Have had to take the stance that different doesn't mean worse, just have to appreciate what is and bloom where you are planted. Nothing will ever be like home, but if you put on your happy attitude hat, you can appreciate any place.
