I don't understand how school board or district board which is more remote to teachers has anything to do with your everyday teaching unless teachers are very politically involved. I think any public school needs good teachers, I mean, knowledgable and dedicated to education, not those who put their interests as top priority. If a teacher just tries to find a nice place to work and doesn't care for what his/her students need, he/she won't become a good teacher. We need teachers who can REALLY teach. My sons have been through or still in school system learning, but I have to admit I haven't seen many well rounded teachers who can really stimulate students' interests in life time learning, teach kids the way in critical thinking, and try to make his/her students standing out among others. I hope to see more teachers who have passion in teaching and love to educate kids to get ready for real world challenge. In my view, teaching is a special career that is very important to raise quality of our future citizens, we shouldn't treat it as a regular job.
