Future city of Peachtree Corners? (Atlanta, Dunwoody: apartments, movie theater, high school)

As others have said both here and in previous threads, incorporation is usually about local control (zoning, etc.), and not about status.

I have been saying this for years. Once major change for me when I moved here from California was the amount of unincorporated areas. Using DeKalb County as an example, there are far more people with Decatur, Stone Mountain, and Lithonia addresses than within the actual city limits of those cities. That of course leads to issues since a person that easily be 10-15 miles away from the border of the city in question.

What is happening now with incorporations and annexations is probably what should have happened years ago.

I think mailing addresses should be changed from...as an example...

Norcross, GA.

to:

1234 Glen Meadows Dr.
Unincorperated Gwinnett Co. GA
30092

Of course, then it sounds like you live in nowheresville...

Actually, Tucker is already an incorporated city. In order for the residents of Smokerise to be annexed into Tucker, they would have to agree to be annexed. The question is, would they be willing to pay an extra level of taxes to be a part of the actual city of Tucker? Unlike Dunwoody or North Fulton, I don't think there is a high level of dissatisfaction with the services that DeKalb County is providing.

You're right. Because of Tucker having an actual "downtown" area, I always assumed that it was actually incorporated.

Aries is quite correct. Surprisingly, Tucker is not incorporated.

Honestly it doesn't even matter which city you list as your address...the mail is delivered by zip code. Your mail could be listed as Conyers, but as long as it has the 30092 zip code it will get to you just fine.

I agree...but not my point.

People seem to not want a Norcross address...in my opinion they should quit their bit..ing. As a native of Peachtree Corners from the early 70's I would much rather have a Norcross address than a p'tree corners address. Its kinda a usless area IMO. No character, no history...just unincorperated Gwinnett. bla. its a typical area that was "once a nice rural area" that is now just bla sprawl. Which is why i would like them to incorperate, to create an identity that will, with time, become a place worth preserving...someplace I would be proud to come from...
