Is it normally like this? It is rainier here than it was in Atlanta. I've always thought of Texas to be dry with occasional storms. Not complaining, but I didn't realize it rained so often here.

Not "normal" but not "rare" either.

October rains are a thing. Just not always this much.

“Normal” here is typically really wet or really dry. So yes, this is typical weather in a wet year. Actually not too wet locally, as the major rainfall is to our northwest; in a really wet year, we’d see those 10+ rainfall totals in Austin itself. October and May tend to be the worst months in a wet year.

Last edited by atxcio; 10-16-2018 at 11:44 AM.. Reason: Correction - October and May are the worst flooding months

Except for this Sunday (which has about 0.1" of rain forecast), the 10-day forecast has 0.25" to 0.50" inches per day, every day....

Atlanta averages 113 rainy days and 49.7 inches.

Austin averages 88 rainy days and 34.2 inches.

Average, of course, being a critical word. July averages 2" per year, but it is really closer to 0 for four years and then 10" from a hurricane on the 5th.
