Tell the big3 what you want and see how far you get. You cannot mandate anything you can't tell GM, Ford, Chrysler what you want them how to design there brake lights.
I want Congress to mandate if they won't. I can't mandate anything. Congress could.
Every time they braked, there was no indication that they were braking because the hazards were flashing the whole time.
the only light telling you that the brakes were on was the third, high mounted one, which was burnt out.
That wasn't an issue because of them being the same color (red). That was an issue, probably with the brake light switch. Meaning it didn't work. Flashers sharing the same as a brake light will go to steady when braking and you mentioning the third light being out tells me somebody needed to get his brake switch fixed. Any problem for you had nothing to do with the color.

No it was not the switch. It is how the lights were designed to work on that vehicle. I know because I had the same type of vehicle. Secondly, It's clear you didn't read all that I said regarding the color.
Why don't North American cars require side turn signals on all vehicles like they do in Europe and rest of the world? I think having side turn signals makes it safer and more visible because sometimes back and front turn signals may not be visible at all times. I know some vehicles do have, but most don't.
Europe already mandate side turn signals + only amber lights decades ago; don't know why North America is always behind when it comes to infrastructure and safety!
Try getting an American to actually use their blinker. Good luck with that.
Never say never, but I agree that it's unlikely they'll ever do anything useful.
