Probably not. Especially not for my purposes now. Even though my black truck looks good when cleaned and waxed, my problem is I have a boat detailing service so driving around a truck that ends up looking filthy and grungy most of the time probably doesn't do much much in a business in which clients want their vessels clean and spotless! I'd say the same for any dark color as well.
Black is by far the best looking color. Sure it doesn't hide things the way that gray/silver does but it's really not that bad depending on the environment you are in. Black here in the Pacific Northwest isn't much of a problem. There's no road salt. It's not very dusty. The dirt tends to be dark in color. Just keep a good wax on it to bead off the rain and it stays looking good.
The highest maintenance color I had was white in Ohio. It constantly picked up dirt. Especially since it was a hatch back the rear was always filthy.
I garage mine now. Before I used a cover when it was not the DD. It never stayed clean more than few minutes. But those minutes- Amazing. There is a business nearby which has mirrored front doors. I would drive by it shortly after a cleaning. Pure car porn. You know, once you go black.

Interesting, my experience was that white was the lowest maintenance color.
As filthy as black was, I'd take it in a heartbeat again. It looks so good clean that its worth it to me.
I currently have a black car and I'd buy that color again, especially if it's a luxury vehicle. They look so elegant when they're freshly waxed and polished.
They sure do and that's what I'm looking at is entry level luxury, however, how long do they stay looking like that? Especially if you don't have a garage and live in the city?
Yes. I've owned 2 and would buy another one. Yes they require more frequent washing and waxing, but if you keep them waxed the dirt doesn't stick and they look spectacular.
I'd never do it again. I currently own two black cars.
When new and freshly washed, they look great. However, as the paint ages and begins to fade, unless you have tons of time to devote to caring for the paint, it really starts to take it's toll. Not an issue if you are the type that keeps a car 3 years and gets rid of it, but if you keep your cars a long time, it will be noticeable.
I've had my black daily driver for 10 years now. The front bumper has so many chips it looks grey now. Every little scratch I've gotten over the last 10 years shows in the bright sun, and the paint is so faded it really needs some TLC. I don't have the time anymore.
I owned a Silver Mustang that was maintenance free almost. I barely washed it and kept thw wheels clean and everyone thought it was freshly waxed. I'd def do silver again.
owned one once (86 celica) Said at that time "I will never own a black car again until I can pay someone to take care of it."
