Just looked at a Forbes article on the popularity colors of new cars for 2015.
1. White
2. Black
3. Silver
4. Gray
5. Red
6. Blue
7. Brown/Beige
8. Yellow/Gold
9. Green
10. All other colors
My wife and I have had at least 11 black vehicles. And I agree with most posters concerning dust, scratches and swirls. But that said, for those first ten minutes after washing, nothing to me looks better.
Both are garaged and I use a car duster before leaving.
In my opinion white cars always look like they were never finished, while silver and gray are almost invisible.
Never never never. Getting gray next time. When winter comes around and the salt trucks start spewing the stuff out, your car will NEVER stay clean. Looks absolutely terrible.
I love the look of a black car. I had a Black Mercedes that was a head turner but as most people stated, never again.
I just could never keep it looking clean past a couple of hours and it was hot as an oven when left out in the Summer sun.
Both my cars are black - I love it. It's the hardest to keep clean, but it looks better than a light colored car when it's clean. Your decision will depend on how much effort you're willing to put into keeping it clean.

I wish more automotive manufacturers would bring back a selection of blues like AndyAMG mentioned, as I rarely see them but recall a nice metallic steel blue one of my siblings had on a mid 70s Buick.
Bronze is also my favorite car color. Here is the BMW version of it:
Nothing is sharper looking then a clean black car.
Agreed...black is my fav color, loved the two previous black vehicles I owned. Currently switched to red, but I'm going back with my next one.
