Same as most here. Unless I had a personal servant - forget it. My tolerance for having my car look dusty all the time is not high. We now have a very dark grey car, and it's such an improvement. I've also had 3 black leather interiors, and wow! It's amazing how much hotter a black leather seat can get vs say.. a tan one. The exterior color I've found to be the lowest maintenance is white.

I won't buy a "basic" black car again... It just shows too much dirt and dust. I would however, get a metallic black color again.

My favorite colors are silver and green for cars though.

Nope, not going to happen, except for maybe my Mustang, if I ever get one. I have a black truck now, Inside stays decent looking most of the time, but come spring, that truck is yellow inside and out!

We're on our fourth black car between us, and have never really had issues with the color. Except for during pine pollen season when any car is going to look dusty regardless of color.

Black is not a color, it's a part-time job. I did not coin it, the credit goes to someone else. It takes the whole 10 minutes for a black-colored vehicle to turn dirty again right after a wash just sitting in the driveway. Then the imperfections (swirls, scratches, holograms, etc.), oh my, they break my heart over and over again. Even after a concourse-quality paint correction process and glass coating process, the imperfections are heart wrenching.

That said, I can't stay away from black cars/trucks. After my first Corvette ('3 Z06), I promised myself not to get another black car. Sure enough I followed it my second Corvette ('8 Z06), second and third trucks ('15 & '16 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew), second Z car ('11 370Z) are all black.

Will I buy another black-colored vehicle? Hell no (yes).

Nothing is sharper looking then a clean black car. I owned on for 15 years (SS El Camino). Like most people say, it only lasts about a hour after it's clean and then it's dirty again.

The first question for the OP is why do you think that there are so many used black cars for sale?

I will never own another black car!

No.

Wash a black car in the spring, and before you're done you will be able to see little specks of pollen all over the car. If you do get black, make sure it's metallic. Anything metallic will sparkle more and look cleaner than a non-metallic.

This, to me, is the biggest issue with black paint. Washing it isn't the issue, it's the damage that occurs to the paint if not washed properly that is so visible on black cars. When I walk next to a black car and see the swirls and scratches I cringe. It's the reason I've gone with dark gray on my last two vehicles and haven't regretted it for one second.

This too, wouldn't buy black again. Have a white car now, first time, vast improvement.

Yeah, white hides paint damage the most. But shows dirt the most(presuming you're in a dark colored dirt area).
