I don't miss cars that I had but I have missed cars that I didn't buy!
1988 BMW M5- dealer let me have it for 2 days, we were about $2500 apart on the deal and I wouldn't budge. I should have bought that car!
Me too.
A 1971 Cuda Hemi convertible. It was rusty and for sale at a tiny dealer in Illinois for $750 in 1981 or 1982. I had $500. My dad refused to loan me the additional $250.
In about 1988 or so I saw one sell at an auction in Palm springs for something like $4 million (or $2 million- whatever).
Someone recently pointed out it may have been a fake with a Hemi hood and badges added. That made me fell better about it. I still would like to have it. Not sure what engine was in it but it had multiple carbs and said "Hemi on the engine. Still may have been added. Not sure why one of 11 Hemi verts made would be sitting in a tiny dealership in a tiny town in Illinois corn lands. However, even a non/hemi cuda convertible would be awesome to have.
In hindsight Dad was probably wise. His logic was it gets bad gas mileage, I would get a lot of tickets, and likely kill myself in it. All of those were likely true, in hindsight.
My subconscious says, because I constantly dream of having it again, my 86 Olds Cutlass Salon. Coup with a V8, T stick on the floor, the perfect car for young dashing naval officers. Very survivable if it came to a crash.....and it did.
Before that, it was a hand be down Delta 88 diesel station wagon, also lost in a crash, and before that, a hmd Isuzu Opel, traded out mid journey to my adult life, for the Delta 88, due to a blown oil seal. After the Salon, it was a nused Chevy Corsica tor many years and then, my new Forester.
Since my dreams tell me to have the Salon as well, I wonder that if I did, what would I do with it. I'm not a dashing young officer driving her boyfriends around anymore. It wouldn't do what I need now and about the only thing I can imagine for it is.......a car to lend someone such as a guest to the house.....and so far, that has been a no go.
I have and daily drive a 98 GSR. Best car I've ever owned, and I have had lots of v8 hot rods. These cars were the most stolen of all a while ago. They were very popular with kids and even though they sold like hotcakes are kind of rare now.
Many were wrecked, stolen and the engine and trans put into Civics, or stripped, raced and in general beat to death.
There a sports car and nice to drive, performance with economy.
i`d want this one back the most .. R code 69 .. but i`d also like my 440 6 pac super bee .. or both of my 64 galixies .. one a 406 six pac .. the other a 428 .. both 4 speeds .. or my 63 hipo 289 sports coupe fairlane .. or my 64 or 66 falcon .. both with the same 351 5 speed drive trains ..or either one of my 55 fords .. i want my 429 83 tbird back .. the baddest hot rod i ever built ..i want all of my V8 pintos back .. about 6 or 8 of them .. i`d even like to have the car i just got rid of .. my namesake ..
Every car I’ve owned was the best ever, until I got the next one. I’ve enjoyed them all. Driving a Forester currently. Perfect for snow and light off roading.
I've been a car collector all my life so there are lots of cars that I owned way back when that I would like to have back and there are a lot of cars that I wish I had bought way back when.
Financially, I can buy anything I want but the one car I would actually go out of my way to acquire is a white four door sedan.
I owned a white 1981 Plymouth Gran Fury (318) back in the 1980s that I bought after it had been retired from the AZ DPS (our highway patrol). I had it for quite a few years and donated it to charity after the tranny went out the second time.
Years later I have become nostalgic about it and often look on line to see if there is one for sale. Nope, not a one.
