Appreciable snow in Philadelphia, Wilmington, & South Jersey comes from nor'easters. That snow comes from NC to DC to Baltimore before hitting the Philadelphia area. This thread, after all, is on the Baltimore board, not the Maryland board. If there is appreciable snow in Philly it has snowed in Baltimore 1st. There is still the possibility for it to go out to sea until the snow hits Wilmington.
Yes but most of the snow thay hits philly is usually rain here. Snow for the most part stays north of maryland or if it hits us has a hard time coming east of fredrick.

I believe that you are confusing York & Lancaster with Philadelphia. As I said temps are colder north & west of the city. Lancaster & York are north of Baltimore & west of Philly. Philly rarely gets snow that is moving west to east. It is almost always a nor'easter. Coming up 95.

You can point that out to you're heart's content. Don't make the leap that if it rains in Baltimore & snows in Lancaster that it is snowing in Philadelphia & South Jersey. That would be an incorrect assumption 99.999999% of the time.

Maryland is located in the Southeastern region of the US. Its just closer to the Mid-Atlantic states (Penn, NJ, and NY). Similar to Kentucky, they are located in the Southeastern region of the US, and its closer to the Mid-West. As for Baltimore, the city is closer to NJ and the Mid-Atlantic major cities - like Philadelphia & NYC, so they have a northerner culture. States at time will adapt to different cultures due to there proximity to the region; for instance, Texas borders Mexico, and there's a lot of Mexican culture in that state, and South Florida is close to Haiti and Cuba, and there's a lot of Haiti and Cuban culture in Miami.

Over time, the Southern culture of Maryland has died out.

Some Southern cultural aspects never died in Maryland and to this day remain in Baltimore. The gritty industrial blue collar feel is not unique to the Northeast. West Virginia is blue collar like Pittsburgh is. As far as immigrants go in Baltimore, it does have that history. However, we must not forget that English Americans are still the majority of Whites in a city. Couple that with a strong Black presence and you have more of a Southern cultural feel.

Interesting point EddieOlSkool! LOL! My grandparents were 2 generations away from the cotton plantations of North Carolina.

Do you think??! I don't think so. Especially amongst Maryland's African American communities I bare witness to southern-ism nuances and pains in my a$$ everyday.
