I am an avid urban photographer and Baltimore is one of the most dangerous cities in the country to try to photograph at night, even Detroit, St Louis, Philly and Atlanta don't bother me as much as Baltimore when out in the city at night alone.

Baltimore is a cool city. But keep it real. Few cities are as dangerous once you get away from the inner harbor and even that area gets kinda nuts late at night sometimes.
I disagree. I grew up in Baltimore and it really depends on you and where you are. I rarely felt unsafe in Baltimore maybe because I know it so well. However, I've felt really unsafe in New York in the Bronx, parts of Philly, numerous parts of D.C., even by the gentrified areas like Capitol Hill, and Detroit, and even parts of Asheville,NC near where I live in rural North Carolina. We've had 2 robberies recently in the pharmacy in the chain where I work - I thought I was escaping crime from ciry life!

The recent photo of Trayvon - looks like a typical teenager to me as well.

Dangerous cities. I'm from Michigan and Detroit is familiar to me. Baltimore looked much worse to me. Detroit doesn't look so good either, but Baltimore appeared much worse.

You can't be serious! Ever spent any time in Fells, Canton, Federal Hill, Locust Point, Harbor East, Inner Harbor, Mt. Vernon, Hampden, Roland Park, Lauraville, Charles Village, Bolton Hill and more?? Baltimore does not even compare to Detroit. Crime is way lower, Blight is way lower, and there are tons of neighborhoods here soaring. If you guys spend all of your time on North Ave or Monument Street I could get your perspective, but come on there is completely other sides to this city, just like every other.

Yes Richmond is a lot like Baltimore, some awesome neighborhoods and some bad areas... It's called a city. Haven't been to any city on the east coast that didn't have a lot of neighborhoods that would scare the hell out of anyone.

Probably, at least they put cops on the streets when bars let out.

Baltimore is WAY better than Detroit. I like Detroit, but it just doesn’t have as many vibrant or intact neighborhoods as urban baltimore, despite baltimore having some seriously rough areas too.

At the same time bad parts of baltimore make the bad parts of Richmond look nice. No comparison there either. Richmond has some bad areas, but nothing like Baltimore.

Even the inner harbor is safe. I had an countenance and his girlfriend beaten by a group of thugs and nobody stopped to help and it wasnt an ally or secluded place either. Baltimore isnt a good place no matter where you are and its a shame my O's are there. But hey day games arent bad!

Well Id like to see them play outside the city like my redskins do. But I must admit I LOVE camden yards. Nothing like a few pitchers of beer at pickles and then walk across the street to the stadium. But Im not a city boy hence my distaste for traveling to big cities.

The Columbia Orioles, I can see it now ... over my dead body.

It's not hard to tell the people who haven't spent much time in Baltimore, have never been to Baltimore, or haven't been in a long time.
