AL East is going back to 2 team race (Sox & NYY) long-term.
MLB, in general, IMO will again be a battle amongst the teams with REAL Major League total payrolls, and the rest will serve the role the Washington Generals did playing the Harlem Globetrotters.
When win totals dip below .333, and I expect to see that more often, interest dips amongst the "have nots". People recognize the giant gap between a "rebuilding to compete period" and "can never compete teams".
really makes the sport unwatchable at times when there is so much disparity and a lack of true competition, imo.....mlb is hurting itself by having a large segment of the league doing crap with low payroll, get draft/talent then make a run for a few seasons then repeat losing-winning-winning cycle.

Agreed, and IMO that is a large part of why actual fans in the seats attendance is so pithy in many cities, though cameramen do their best not to show the mostly empty sections on screen.
After Spring Training it looked like Shohei Ohtani would star on the mound but struggle against ML pitching. However, through four games and 19 plate appearances, his slash line is .389/.421/.889 with three home runs.
He pitches today against the A's, his second ML start.
Ohtami pitched six and a third perfect innings against the A's before yielding a single. He finished with 7 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, 12 strikeouts. His ERA has dropped to 2.08. Paired with his .389/.421/.889 batting, so far this guy is Babe Ruth.

The above are the batting averages of the starting nine for Cleveland today against Kansas City. Cleveland is batting .161 as a team.
The Indians got four hits today and managed to bunch them into 3 runs and a win. Of course they were playing one of the two teams in MLB who are even worse offensively. The Royals have a team slashline of .186/.250/.271, but this is still better than Tampa Bay's .188/.254/.264.
Rays - eight game losing streak - only win was a flukeish 6-run inning game given to them by Bosox pitcher....today they head for Chisox. It'll be interesting to see how they do against a non-NY, non-Boston team today.

Astros come away from home with a good series result, despite an offensive sputtering in the first two games of the San Diego series. It's off to Minnesota to play the Twins, and tonight's expected game time temperature: 35 degrees. Ouch!
