Indians discussion boards have been buzzing today about a possible deal with the Brewers involving Sabathia. The names being tossed around from the Brewers are Matt LaPorta, Alcides Escobar, Taylor Green and Lorenzo Cain, none of whom are in the majors or are pitchers.

Doubt all would be included, unless another player goes with Sabathia.

Should be interesting, it appears something will happen concerning a Sabathia deal within the next 48 hours.

Well unless the Brewers can resign CC, then it's a pipe dream by the Indians thinking they'll get anything close to that.

Sabathia going to the Brewers will really make things interesting in this year's division race. If my Astros don't get their acts together real quick and get in the race, the Brew Crew is a team I would certainly root for. Former Ranger GM and current Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin is one of the game's good guys.

if Sabathia goes to the Brewers, you better watch out!! With Ryan Braun and Prince heating up, this could make thing VERY interesting.

Don't look now but look in the rear view mirror it's the Cards and the Brew Crew making the double pass in the no passing zone. Brewers 3.5 GB and now C.C on the way, goodnight scrubbies!!!!

Default How They're Doing - July 5

With all the Central teams' games completed as of Saturday night, this is what the NL Central looks like right now.

1. Chicago Cubs (52-36)
2. St Louis Cardinals (50-39)
3. Milwaukee Brewers (48-39)
4. Cincinnati Reds (42-47)
5. Houston Astros (41-47)
6. Pittsburgh Pirates (40-46)


The Astros got a victory over Atlanta thanks to the strong pitching of Chris Sampson, who pitched in place of the injured Roy Oswalt. Chicago and St Louis are battling it out this weekend, with the Cards winning the first two. Rick Ankiel won the one this afternoon with a walk-off single. In the Reds' win over the Nats, Brandon Phillips had a walk-off single, as well. And the Brew Crew beat the Pirates with Prince Fielder's game-winning single. Boy, lots of late heroics tonight.

Don't know what the mix would be, if a trade is even completed. Last I read the "fixed parts" were LaPorta and Taylor Green, with the remainder kind of bouncing around. Also, they could dump the Mota contract on Cleveland as part of the deal.

Remember, not only would Milwaukee have Sabathia for the second half of the season, they would also pick up two first round draft choices if he then signs elsewhere.

Actually at that point the series was tied up, and now the Cubs took 2 of 3 from the Cards. The Cubs are still in first even though Soriano is still out and Z was lost for 2 starts. It will be a tight race for the top 3 teams, and as far as the Astros? You better start rooting for the Brewers already.

Update from Yahoo Sports confirms the Brewers deal:

Cleveland Indians ace C.C. Sabathia was traded Sunday afternoon to the Brewers for three minor leaguers, including top prospect Matt LaPorta and third baseman Taylor Green, sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported the deal.

You're right. I checked again. The Cardinals did lose on Friday, and when I looked at the standings Saturday night, I thought there was a 2 next to the W under streaks. Sorry. Now, as far as the whole division goes, we still have another half of baseball to go. As a matter of fact, it's already begun, so let's just see what happens. And so far, the Astros haven't played well, and GM Ed Wade has not looked like the genius I thought he was.
