Burlington, VT has kind of college vibe to it. Boston is major metro city...so that overshadows any college vibe for me I guess.

Boston isn't Allston. You can't tell me that walking around South Boston, Dorchester, Jamaica plain, Charlestown, East Boston or even the downtown area you feel the same vibe you feel in Ithaca or Ann Arbor.
The whole city doesn't need to have a college vibe. And make no mistake, it goes far beyond Allston. The heart of the city is loaded with college students.

I can't find current stats, but Boston has had the highest per capita college student population in the US (among large cities).

Here is an old article. While old, I'd guess not much has changed.

Nobody is disputing that Boston has a lot of college students. The question is whether it's a college town. A college town is generally understood as a city or neighborhood that is dominated by its student population. While certainly influenced in part by its college population, Boston is not dominated by its student population. There are pockets of Boston that could fit this bill, but the city does not. You will find certain articles referencing Boston as a college town based on unique definitions of what some people consider such, but they are the outliers. It's not listed on most published lists of College Towns because it's not generally considered such as its not dominated by its student population. For the first time in your life, just admit you're wrong (you often are) and move on.

No disrespect intended towards anyone involved, but this conversation is one of the silliest I've seen on here.

Boston is indisputably a college town.

A junk list. Hilarious that they consider Warwick, RI to be a college town due to CCRI (a commuter school).

Honestly, that's not even fancy drink prices anymore. Lots of nicer places are charging $20-25 before tip. And if you want to stick to beer, that can easily run you $11 or $12 (and likely at least $9)

I think you are missing the point that others are trying to make. Boston might have a lot of colleges but it does not have that 'typical' college vibe that folks feel in places like Ann Arbor, Amherst, Austin (which is changing rapidly) maybe even parts of Worcester. There aren't any bars/clubs geared towards an 18+ crowd.

I found this list that names 'best college bars in boston'

https://www.timeout.com/boston/bars/...bars-in-boston

I have been to many of them and I wasn't in college when i went to them. Many of them are frequented by young professionals as well. If people are checking IDs I still wonder how does this work out for the under 21 crowd. and many college students don't have jobs...so unless they are heavily funded by mom and dad (and perhaps many are these days) how can they afford to go out drinking (and eating) in boston every weekend?

Austin, TX:
Population: 964k
College Students: 160k

Boston, MA:
Population: 650k
College Students: 150k

Austin is a college town, but Boston isn't a college town? Seriously?
