Philadelphia has amazing transit.

Boston is self inflicted.

If it hadn't been for the numerous breakdowns, our subway system is actually better than SEPTA because it is more extensive and more cohesive. There are only about 3 places you can transfer from one SEPTA subway line to another for free and headways on some lines, especially the subway-surface routes, could be better. There's a reason why some locals call the system "INEPTA". I agree the SEPTA Regional Rail is better run and more efficient than ours however. Philly gets to connect North and South with their commuter rail, we don't.

Looks like the wife of the guy who chose to run on an abandoned staircase at Umass/Dorchester is suing for wrongful death

https://www.bostonherald.com/2022/11...fQt2H8oruTLtM4

I'm not surprised, it's awful that he died over something like this but not sure why a grown man would choose to run here. It seemed obvious to most people that this was not a place to walk/trespass, never mind go for a run.

Does the T even have money to give to anything at this point?

Coming from a former Philadelphian, I beg to differ! We hadn't had any major expansions since SEPTA expanded the Broad St Line from Snyder to Pattison since 1973 when SEPTA opened two new stations on Oregon Ave and Patison Avenue. And in my opinion, those two stations should've been opened in the 1930's and 1940's, especially when the Old JFK Stadium used to be located there as well as the nearby Navy Yard.

It's almost 50 years, and I'm still waiting on what SEPTA is going to do but waiting on SEPTA to improve bus and rail (subway and commuter) is like watching paint dry, and I'm going strictly by experience and not being biased against Philadelphia. Boston's T isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd trade it and especially the commuter rail over what I was used to in Philadelphia.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, why we have warning labels stating one should not attempt to stop a running chainsaw with their genitals. As for money absolutely not, it was spent on 160 hour weekly self-approved timecards and resulting bloated pensions.

It's sad that the guy died, but what a way to go. He was apparently one of the more smart/educated folks in MA that our forum friends gloat about living in the same state as, being a prof at BU and all.

Student Smashes Train Window At Braintree Station: Transit Police

https://patch.com/massachusetts/brai...transit-police

"A 24-year-old will be summoned to Quincy District Court after he "lost it" due to a missed train, MBTA Transit Police said."

Not sure why his name and school are being kept a secret.

smart/educated does not=common sense. Seems his passing can be attributed to the fact that common sense wasn't prevailing in his decision making.

People "lose it" more and more lately because they know the consequences probably wont be serious.
