The other end of the problem isn't getting over $100,000 a year but their numbers are rapidly increasing. Even if you cut the fat cat public employees can those savings begin to match the increasing welfare needs of a fast growing population?

Poverty Soars in California | Gregor.us

In September the state of California hit a new high in food stamp benefits, crossing the 6 billion dollar mark on an annualized basis. Over the past year in California alone the total number recipients of the federal SNAP program (supplemental nutritional assistance program) rose by 16.3%. In many of the big counties of California however, food stamp usage rose even faster.

In San Bernardino County, for example, with its population of two million the number of SNAP recipients has now crossed the 300,000 level. Yes, a full 15% of that county is now on food stamps. But the growth rate in usage is even faster now at 22.7% since last year and has showed no sign of slowing down. |

I love how the state is dead broke, yet they're advertising WIC, food stamps, community college, etc. Sure, just encourage more people to take money we don't have.

That's Dr. McHottie to you, Bub. She's right about the state's hands being tied thanks to the propositions with all their unfunded mandates and continuous appropriations as well as the tax structure and the reliance on it. But you're right about the governance. Give it another penny and it will spend another dime.

She also kept referring to the 2/3 majority in the legislature needed to raise taxes. Didn't that get removed recently?
