California is surprisingly clean and nice compared to what people from texas have told me. Also has a lower poverty rate.

How do you know they are native Californians ?

You are encountering them at an airport. You don't know them personally.

Whenever I tell them that they need to move over to the Passenger Pick up area, they want to stay right where they are (if the person picks them up in the Authorized only area they get a ticket).
This sounds like a completely made-up story, from the get-go.

1) It is illegal to smoke indoors just about everywhere in California. I find it hard to believe that a Californian would even light up in an airport - they've been indoctrinated into the "wait until you are outside and 25 feet from a door" gulag.

2) I don't know about people in Texas but in every airport I've been in, people getting off a flight don't stop right after they disembark - even to smoke. They've been sitting on their arses for HOURS in that damn box. They go to either baggage claim or the "meet people" area - THEN they smoke. Even in France, where everybody smokes.

3) If the poster is now going to claim "oh, no, this is outdoors" - how in hell do they know the person just got off a flight from CA? It's a "major airport in Texas" - it must have multiple jetways with tens of flights landing every 5 minutes, from all over.

4) The "I can recognize a 'native' Californian" is pure B.S.

A made up story to cover an inferiority complex is my guess.

Right. And it makes perfect sense for their disapproval to be formed by watching a Youtube video of random potheads in a park or from strangers stepping off a plane in Texas from a flight that originated in California.

Because we all know that all Californians are shirtless pot-smoking hippies - and anyone stepping off a plane from California has to be from California.

California: the state people love to hate. Except when they want to get away from the heat or the winter snow, or take the kids to Disneyland.
