They would make all illegals citizens of the new Country and solidify one party rule.

So what would happen when existing Californians left to remain Americans? The 6th largest economy would become the 9th or 10th in a hurry.

Reduction of general population wouldn't necessarily result in reduction of economic strength. In fact it could increase strength depending on who left.

Do you understand how very many people there are in the world who would leap at the chance to repopulate California to whatever degree space became available. Do you understand how many brilliant people there are all around the world as well as around this country who are waiting for their opportunity to move here? Do you not grasp how many of these people are disaffected with American restrictions on immigration and other conservative policies? Do you not grasp how many of these people would love to see California an independent social democracy more similar to the best European nations such as Germany?
