Basically someone with deep pockets or a lottery winner would need to come forward with the $$$.
Bummer.
Perhaps all the complainers here could chip in.

Transportation is one of the words in the law so at least some of the money will go to Browns farce.

Just take out that old, inefficient V8 and drop a modern 4-cyl with a 6-speed auto transmission into your Vega. The increase in gas mileage will more than offset the 12-cent gas tax increase -- you'll be sending less money to Brown than before

Actually, this is true for anyone bellyaching about the gas tax increase: if you don't want to pay it, just trade in your vehicle for one that gets at least 1 or 2 more mpg than the one you have now.

Like the most affected - the poor - can go out and buy a new more efficient car to offset the tax increase. The liberal "spender of other people's money" thinking never fails to astound.

I imagine when they tax grocery, they will tell you to eat less so you can offset the tax.

Calorie restriction with proper nutrition seems to help extend lifespans and delay the onset of age-related disorders by reducing what are called reactive oxygen species in the body. Research has shown that calorie restriction changes the levels of hormones and lipid metabolites, and alters energy metabolism.
