OP, you're not even a transplant, but an ex-plant.

Unable to come up with coherent debate points, OP resorts to birtherism. Sheesh.

Good bye to you, too!

OK! I am honored to be blocked by you. (Do you think for a minute that you not reading my rebuttals to your ignorant comments means I will stop rebutting for the benefit of other readers?)

This native Californio supports ya!

I am a CA resident currently visiting Indianapolis for a few weeks. Believe me, homelessness is not just a CA problem. Just drove through downtown Indy and it is overrun with people living on the streets. So sad and it will be very cold here in a matter of weeks. This is not a political issue and is a problem we all have to face no matter where we live.

Homelessness in the inner city is a problem nationwide, though even the worst I've seen in D.C. does not come close to Skid Row in L.A., but what's pretty typical for the West Coast and stands out in comparison to many other places is the proliferation of drifter types/strung out folks in public spaces even in the nicer and nicest areas incl. tourist landmarks and suburban areas.

And that's one area where it becomes a political issue as approaches toward the policing of those public spaces differ significantly.

Good point! Nativism with regard to where someone happens to be born is just silliness.

My nephew's wife gave birth to their youngest son the year they were living in Post Falls, Idaho. They've been back in California for 4.5 years now, and California is where their youngest has now spent the majority of his 5 years of life. Is he not a Californian? Should he spend the rest of his life here, will he not be allowed an opinion because his birth certificate was printed in Idaho? That's just silly.

I was born here, but I could've hypothetically been born anywhere else as well. One line on your birth certificate does not determine your bonafides as a resident. What does matter is your commitment to facts, and to understanding the circumstances of the state, and either deciding that you're okay with those facts and circumstances (and doing what you can to help), or not, and then relocating if you think that will make you happier somehow.

Those of us who live in California and enjoy it because of its pluses, are willing to accept criticism and do what we can to make things right.

It's unproductive for those who've chosen to leave to continue to come back to our forums and make negative comments.

Yes. I love CA too, but don't come back here to complain.

So you live in Florida? Tell us.

Phoenix residents reported 1,500 homeless encampments:

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I am shocked Phoenix and even Blue Democrat Las Vegas pretty much treated these individuals like subhuman amid COVID19. I bet there were individuals once staying in as low as $19 yet descent rooms in LV which we cannot find anything else until they were locked out of their rooms as the hotel/Inn abandon their operations once the casinos were ordered to stop gaming as their business model became unsustainable without gaming money. They could stay open under the state’s guidelines but chose not to. Quite a number of Shelters in both were also closed or have their capacities cut to a fraction as an exercise to avoid COVID19 spread either voluntarily or ordered to. And of all massive venues under the control of the cities that are mostly left unused and sitting empty they chose some shadeless black tar parking lots. Their excuse hospitals might need them for overflow patients? But is there no extra rooms space in giant venues at all? And conditions in both cities are pretty harsh and windy/dusty even if not deadly hot in the matter of minutes. And due to Covid 19 the homeless in these cities have much fewer of their their normal choices of refugee in terms of cooling centers, shelters, community centers and many other indoor venues Ie public buildings/libraries and ones like fast food, fitness centers, juice bars, malls, 24 hour casinos/travel centers with showers to take refugee from the elements and make small purchases like cold drinks to maintain their welcome. Being homeless In phoenix these days is pretty much a death sentence in the heat. These two cities were literally throwing them out to die.

At least California had the common sense and tried to be humane to house the homeless in the mostly vacant venues such as convention centers, fair grounds, as well as empty Inns and hotels. And did not house them in parking lots despite how many were already sleeping on the streets and in cars and it’s climate is conductive. This pretty much self explanatory why we still have inward migration. Thus that bus ticket regardless of who bought it is a life savor. Less than a thousand homeless in Phoenix in the summer or we can say less than a thousand surviving homeless in the Phoenix heat. I am sure most people Including in this forum won’t last a day outside in 116 heat.

Some people that are living here have had their homes paid off for decades. Once your home is paid off , your other bills are easily manageable.

A lot of people that are having a hard time are from other states or other countries. The new generation sometimes just lives with their parents , so they can save up money to buy something. A lot of people here may not be able to afford a home but they can afford a townhome/condo.

This is true and not unique to CA. there are things due to the population and amenities, not to mention the weather, that draw many to CA even when their income is marginal. The cost will keep going up until there are not enough buyers. Yes economic issues can make prices decline but only because fewer will be able to buy then.
