Same place I'm heading with my pension. North of Austin in the hill country. I'll probably go to the beach more if I come back on vacation. I've been here 38 years and time for a change. We already have family and friends there.

The order isn't binding without legislative input. Basically this just lays out a framework for them to use. That's why it's filled with lot's of weasel wording like "where feasible" and such. It's still overly optimistic no matter how you slice it. As I said, passenger cars aren't the big hurdle. We already that to some degree. It's the big stuff that's vital to our infrastructure which aren't as easily replaced with electric variants.

Show me a comparable electric grader, scraper or dozer to any of the diesel powered ones we currently use.
Are you betting there will not be comparables in 15 years?

Some would say the same for unnecessary pollutants generated by gas cars.

I like Austin, although its gotten quite expensive as well. Also, if you don't like liberal policies, you probably won't like the leadership in Austin. However, as you mention, you can go to a rural area outside of the city and probably get the price and politics that you like.

The thing is, an Austin liberal is pretty close to a conservative here in CA. Nothing is as expensive as here so we'll still have big money left over after selling. Friends just bought a few years old house 2000 sq feet near a lake for less than 200 grand. Insane.

Britain aka the UK already has the same plan, more or less. We'll see, 2035 is a long ways away.

How far out is that? Some of the homes near the city (lake Austin) are well into the millions. We looked a few years ago at Steiner Ranch and there is some good value there, although the commute wasn't great (not any worse than here in the Bay Area though).
