There's always that famous Peter Ustinov quote that "Toronto is New York, run by the Swiss".

Toronto is like a combination of New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco with a touch of Cleveland or Detroit for good measure.

Toronto is often compared to New York because it's the largest city in Canada and because it's known for its corporate headquarters... but realistically, it looks like Chicago. A big flat, sprawling city full of modern skyscrapers that was founded in the 19th century on industrialism... which is now a hub of culture/arts and business, on a large Great Lake.

Good analogy.

I would agree with all of that

Perhaps a reference to the large Chinatown area of Toronto?
